Nurturance
Branding & Strategy
Raising a child is a profound challenge; raising a differently-abled child is even more so. In developing countries, this journey becomes overwhelmingly difficult due to limited resources, cultural stigma, and societal isolation. Through my research, I discovered a critical gap—while many initiatives focus on differently-abled children, very few provide support tailored for their parents. This project addresses that gap by creating a brand that provides workshops, care packages, and meal kits to support parents.
The design centers on nurturance—both physical and emotional care. I developed a custom typeface with ligatures that symbolize connection and community, while incorporating multilingual and culturally relevant design elements to ensure accessibility. The brand’s visual identity reflects warmth, care, and unity, with each touchpoint—from the workshops to the care packages—designed to empower and reassure parents that they are not alone.
Brief: Develop a brand, visual toolkit, and relevant touchpoints inspired by the themes of Iktsuarpok (the feeling of anticipation and dread while waiting) and volunteering/social care. The design must resonate with “outsiders,” individuals isolated from society due to their circumstances.
Concept: A compassionate brand dedicated to supporting parents of differently-abled children in developing countries. The initiative provides essential resources such as meal kits and workshops, fostering a sense of belonging and reassurance that they are not alone.
Solution: The brand’s visual identity embodies nourishment, care, and community support. The design integrates imagery that reflects the emotional and physical sustenance offered by the brand. A custom typeface featuring ligatures, manipulated to symbolize interconnectedness, highlights the theme of a community coming together to nurture a child, seamlessly carrying the brand’s message and values forward.
